چکیده
Abstract The ratio of stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes in the suspended particulate matter has been widely used to study processes occurring marine ecosystem. At same time, signals provided by isotope ratios coastal ecosystems can be difficult interpret, due several, often contradictory taking place simultaneously. In this study, we hypothesized that isotopic variation is predominantly affected seasonally phytoplankton species succession Gulf Riga, Baltic Sea. Cyclical seasonal patterns were observed for compositions both SPM data. Enrichment heavy Riga took during spring bloom (from on average between + 7.1 8.8 ‰, − 23.7 21.9 ‰ δ 15 N 13 C, respectively) pooled at significantly lower values 3.1 5.1 from 28.7 25.1 rest year. spatial gradient was sporadic inconclusive. results showed terrestrial anthropogenic input negligible autumn. Multivariate analysis revealed variability indeed driven composition. diatoms, dinoflagellates, ciliate Mesodinium rubrum facilitated enrichment C spring. contrast, atmospheric fixation cyanobacteria assimilation their released nutrients other organisms resulted summer. This requires careful considerations conducting food web studies temperate estuarine environments high biomass periods.

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...

Stable isotope composition of dissolved inorganic carbon and particulate organic carbon in sea ice from the Ross Sea, Antarctica
[1] We examined controls on the carbon isotopic composition of sea ice brines and organic matter during cruises to the Ross Sea, Antarctica in November/December 1998 and November/December 2006. Brine samples were analyzed for salinity, nutrients, total dissolved inorganic carbon (SCO2), and the C/C ratio of SCO2 (d 13CSCO2). Particulate organic matter from sea ice cores was analyzed for percent...

Dinoflagellate toxins in northern Baltic sea phytoplankton and zooplankton assemblages
The distribution of dinoflagellate toxins (OA, DTXs, PTXs, YTXs) in plankton communities was studied in the northern Baltic Sea during late summers of 2005 and 2006. The phycotoxins were analysed from samples that contained field collected microplankton in the size range of 20–76 μm, zooplankton collected with a net, and individually hand-picked copepods from open-sea and coastal sampling stati...
